It's official, the iPhone Dev-Team has done it! They have released a fully untethered iPod Touch 2G Jailbreak.
What does this mean? This means your iPod Touch 2G can be fully jailbroken without needing to rejailbreak it everytime your reboot your iPod Touch 2G. For anyone who doesn't know what jailbreaking is, here is a quick explanation of what it does! Jailbreaking allows you to customize your iPod Touch 2G, add third-party apps from Cydia, and a lot more
The following tutorial will show you how to jailbreak iPod Touch 2G.
Note: This unofficial jailbreaking software is created by @Dancool999 and his website is http://ipod2g.info/main/. The iPhone Dev-Team will release PwnageTool/QuickPWN software for the official jailbreak if you want to wait for that.
Credits for the actual jailbreak go to the iPhone Dev-Team and Chronic.
2. Download iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1 firmware.
3. Run Setup.exe to install QuickFreedom and follow the instructions in this program.

Hi, I just jailbreaked my Ipod Touch 2g it's works perfectly. There is just one thing, then you want to install the custom frimware Itunes auto download the original firm but you need just to rename the Custom firmware by iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw
and place it in (under Vista) Roaming > Apple Computer > iTunes > iPod Software Updates

Quick freedom 1.1.0 is created firmware successfully. But not restore it to ipod touch (using iTunes 8.2.20). Error 1604......shown. Please help me.

It worked perfectly for me. Just follow the instructions and it should work for you as well. This will also install Cydia so you can download all the apps in the Cydia store as well as the iTunes store. The entire process took about 45 min on an extremely old laptop. Processor was pegged pretty much the entire time. Should go faster with a better computer.

ugh this doesn't work! first it took forever to down load and then when it finally did ( the ipod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw) it said something like it couldn't connect? and after i downloaded Quick freedom it said my ipod wasn't connected (when it was) and an hour passed it was still at 1% and wouldn't let me make a firm ware :@, this is annoying me, and i would like help!!

even though i do not own itouch, but from experience with other people itouch, jailbreaking could messes up your itouch, but a guess from me, is that if you do it carefully and do everything right it probably might not messes up anyhthing. and if you cant really acsess the program jailbreak or you cant do it, cause something wrong, i suggest you not continue it might messes up the whole itouch.

I'm having trouble restoring my iPod, as it shuts down from iTunes. iTunes has been shutting down on me, it doesn't work when my iPod is plugged in. When it's restoring it'll stay good for like ten minutes then it will shut down. Is there any way to jailbreak it without iTunes, or to bypass that step?

Quickfreedom doesn't work! I open it then I click 'jailbreak ipod' then a little window appears with a loading bar and it says 'please wait while windows congigures pastel xpress 2009'. Pastel xpress 2009? What does that have to do with anything? Then another little window appears and it says 'ipod 2g jailbreak gui has stopped working' with a little button that says 'close program' and i do close it..then I try over and over but no use..Help please! I'm only a 13 year old
